Today’s lenders and borrowers face a myriad of challenges, including restrictions on foreign banks lending to companies in certain jurisdictions, distressed debt and increasing complexity of financial services regulation across the world. With most financing transactions that involve global companies requiring execution in more than one jurisdiction, and local law requirements posing challenges that can significantly affect deal value, it is crucial that their lawyers can navigate them through this complex environment. Baker McKenzie is exceptionally well positioned to do this.

Baker McKenzie has grown from the grass roots up, with established, local expertise in both financial centers and key emerging markets. Our people know their markets and how to operate effectively in them to deliver value to our clients, among whom we include the world’s leading financial institutions as well as major multinationals in the energy, mining & infrastructure industry, the industrials, manufacturing and transport industry and the technology, media and telecommunications industry. The variety of work across our diverse client base and our experience on all sides of a transaction enables us to create highly commercial, successful strategies for clients. We have helped structure and close pioneering financing transactions across the globe – often recognized as award-winning by independent industry bodies.

Our practice is particularly noted for its proficiency in acquisition finance, project finance, restructuring and insolvency, financial services regulation, structured finance, trade and export finance, real estate finance and securitization. Our extensive coverage allows us to seamlessly manage multi-layered processes and minimizes the inefficiencies of using multiple law firms. Furthermore, Baker McKenzie is a pioneer in the use of alternative business models and innovative approaches to service delivery, including harnessing the latest technology, to reduce the overall cost to our clients.

Baker McKenzie brings insight and foresight to clients across more than 70 global offices. Our team of 13,000 people, including over 6,500 lawyers, works alongside our clients to drive growth that is both sustainable – and inclusive.

The global business community is more interconnected than ever before. Opportunities and risks spill across different markets, sectors and areas of law, so a connected perspective is essential in delivering business objectives while mitigating risk. Our integrated client solutions provide seamless advice, underpinned by deep practice and sector expertise, as well as first-rate local market knowledge.

In today’s interconnected world, it is impossible to separate commercial opportunities and risks from environmental and social context. From fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace that allows all people to contribute, to slowing the effects of climate change and creating greater longevity for all, we believe that taking the sustainable path to growth is not only critical to success, but is part of our central role as businesses.
