Ricardo Cordero Baltodano is a partner at Cordero & Cordero Abogados, where he leads the firm’s Banking and Finance, Insurance and Reinsurance, Foreign Investment, and Free Trade Zones practices. In the insurance sector, he provides guidance to insurance companies, reinsurers, and intermediaries operating under Costa Rican law.

Ricardo earned his LL.M. from Georgetown University Law Center and obtained his Bachelor of Laws with honors from the University of Costa Rica. He also completed the “Foundations of American Law” course at Georgetown and served as Captain of the Philip C. Jessup International Debate Competition Team. In addition, he has pursued specialized courses in insurance, finance, banking law, and real estate law.

Earlier in his career, Ricardo gained international experience as a foreign associate in the International Trade practice of Thompson Hine LLP in Washington, D.C.

He is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Costa Rican Bar Association, the Costa Rican-American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM), the Costa Rican-British Chamber of Commerce (BritCham), the American Bar Association, and the Inter-American Bar Association. He is also a co-author of chapters for The International Comparative Legal Guide to Lending & Secured Finance and Insurance & Reinsurance.
